What Ten People Built - and What One Dollar Does on a Petition

In "The Infrastructure We Build - Dispatch Two: What Holds," Professionals Who Care addresses the double-edged sword of domestic competence: when we do the job too well without statutory backing, healthcare systems and policymakers assume we don't need help.

The second dispatch of The Infrastructure We Build is live this weekend, and it carries a number that reframes what petition support can look like.

Ten people promoted the Colorado CARE Act Change.org petition. Between them they contributed $453. Those ten people generated 17,669 petition views - and delivered 580 of the 722 signatures the petition has received to date. That is 80 percent of every signature this petition has ever received.

At current performance rates, one dollar of Change.org petition promotion generates approximately 39 petition views and 1.3 signatures. Five dollars generates 195 views and more than six signatures. Ten dollars generates 390 views and nearly thirteen signatures.

The petition goal is 1,000. The gap is 278. At the current promoter rate, closing that gap entirely through promotion would cost approximately $217 total - spread across however many supporters are willing to contribute what they can.
