Advocacy

Raise awareness on potential legislation, unite voices, and advocate for caregivers. 

Examples: - Share with Leadership and Communications important legislation, policies, public stances, or Dear Colleague Letters regarding caregiving or the workplace. - Offer counsel on whether PWC advocates for, speaks against, or stays neutral in matters of public policy. - Help craft or advise on PWC official response. - Write advocacy letters to government officials and politicians for others to sign. - Notify PWC when opportunities arise for the organization to sign other appeals. - Work with other Advocacy volunteers to create a platform to push for greater inclusivity of caregivers.

Communications

Increase understanding by helping with social media and other communications.  

Examples: - Find content ideas by looking through PWC resources, caregiver spotlights, current news, research, and celebrity news. -- Work with other volunteers to pull in content from the organization. - Work with disability advocates to improve accessibility across all platforms. - Commit to creating posts at certain intervals, such as one a week. - Manage a social media platform to spread PWC’s reach by sharing created content on a specific platform. - Engage with posts and with people who post. - Write articles and submit to be included in media platforms. - Manage website, add content, and improve Search Engine Optimization. - Create an image library. - Assist with video content and design. - Transform social media content into website blogs. - Help develop communication standards. - Work with other Communication volunteers to create a unified message.

Fundraising

Help with resource development through referrals, grants, or direct fundraising. 

Examples: - Research leads, build referrals, and identify individual, foundation, government, foundation, and other organizational support. - Track leads through a CRM software. - Update gift acceptance policy and complete reputational risks. - Create alternate streams of revenue through potential sponsorship, mini-campaigns, crowdfunding, organizational support, or sale of goods. - Analyze leads to increase fundraising effectiveness, examine risks, and follow guidelines of ethical fundraising. - Apply to grants and solicit funds. - Steward gifts. - Work with Community Building, Communication, Nonprofit Management, and Education volunteers. - Coordinate with other Fundraising volunteers.

Coalition Building

Build partnerships with other organizations with aligned & adjacent interests to multiply impact.

Examples: - Identify organizations with aligned interests, such as for caregivers, disabled, elderly, ill, and injured. - Identify other organizations focused on workplace rights, workplace well-being, civil rights, employee rights, diversity initiatives, mental health in the workplace, military family supports, and more. - Volunteers will engage organizations to elevate the need for inclusivity of caregivers in the workplace. - Opportunities for collaboration should be discussed with leadership and explored with organizations, including advocacy, cross-promotion, education, referral building, sponsorship, and more.

Community Development

Bring people together through events, activities, support, and volunteer management.  

Examples: - Plan online events to bring caregivers and/or allies together. - Manage volunteers, including creating engagement, gratitude, and instruction activities. - Create video content on specific issues to amplify the voice of employed caregivers. - Consider issues related to diversity and intersectionality, to bring a range of voices and experiences to light. - Coordinate with other PWC volunteers for content, such as Education or Advocacy volunteers. - Coordinate with other Community Building volunteers.

Education

Create educational guides for organizations on the employed caregivers and the future of work. 

Examples: - Create interactive and story-driven educational platforms on issues and opportunities related to caregivers in the workplace. - Complete a landscape survey of existing educational tools, research, and resources. - Develop short and long term goals for curriculum development. - Develop curriculum with leadership, starting with highest priorities. - Use technology to build educational platforms to scale. - Gather feedback from diverse users on tone, message, and style. - Communicate with fundraising team research gaps, for possible research grants in the long-term. - Work with advocacy, coalition building, community development, legal rights, communications, technology volunteers to ensure strong feedback loops and continuity. - Work with other educational volunteers for unified approach and style.

Legal Rights

Develop resource guides the rights of caregivers in the workplace.

Examples: - Provide content to detail the rights of caregivers in the workplace. - Develop roadmap for material needed to assist caregivers on their rights. - Create a platform to capture state-by-state resources and contacts. - Identify programs that offer affordable or free legal support. - Work with volunteers, staff, and leadership to ensure appropriate interpretation of rights. - Work with those focused on advocacy to communicate legal issues that increase caregiver vulnerability.

Nonprofit Management

Provide administrative support to promote transparency, accountability, & integrity. 

Examples: - Create calendar of administrative tasks. - Create a roadmap for administrative growth for an emerging nonprofit. - Develop necessary documentation. - Work with leadership on standards of excellence. - Identify, vet, and document vendors, donors, and volunteers for both current and long-term administrative support. - Complete administrative tasks in alignment with the calendar and the roadmap, such as registering on websites and gaining certifications.

Technology & Security

Adapt technological solutions, ensuring efficiency, security, sustainability, & intelligence.

Examples: - Work with PWC leadership to select affordable technologies that increase organizational impact. - Develop PWC code of ethics around technology usage, considering privacy, relationships, environmental impact, and cost. - Help create strategic plan for technological adaptations. - Create systems to build strong data hygiene. - Write SOP and document best practices for data and technology. - Ensure smart integration of technological solutions.
